Art can begin with a private thought and become something that brings people together. A painting prompts a question. A conversation introduces a new perspective. Someone takes an interest in the person behind the work, and a relationship begins.
For artist and founder Joe Taveras, that exchange extends beyond the studio. New Renaissance is a platform where artists, collectors, curators and curious minds can share work, discover one another and build relationships around art and culture.
From making work to making connections
Taveras’s paintings explore consciousness, interconnectedness and the relationship between matter and movement. His work as a founder approaches connection from another direction: creating a place where people can encounter each other’s ideas and take part in creative life.
Having worked in robotics before beginning to paint in 2020, Taveras brings experience in both technology and art to New Renaissance. The platform gives those interests a shared purpose, bringing creative work and the people behind it into the same space.
Taveras leads New Renaissance as Founder and CEO, alongside Jess Mouawad as Founding Strategic Partner. Together, they are developing a community that makes room for artists, audiences and the relationships through which culture grows.
A home for what you create
A New Renaissance profile brings different parts of a creative life together. Members can share artworks, publish journal entries, introduce projects and gather works into collections. Visitors can discover a finished piece, read about an idea and spend time getting to know the practice behind it.
For Taveras, the profile offers a way to bring paintings, projects and reflections into one ongoing conversation. For another member, it might be a place to share a curatorial perspective, explore a collection or introduce something still taking shape.

Discover the people behind the work
Explore brings people, art, journals, events and projects into view. A work that catches your attention can lead to an artist’s profile. A journal entry can introduce a perspective you want to follow. A project can become a starting point for a conversation.
Members can follow people, save contributions and respond through comments and messages. There is room to arrive with an established practice, an idea in progress or simply a desire to become more involved in art and culture.

Participation shapes the community
New Renaissance takes shape through what its members bring: a painting, a thoughtful response, a story from the studio or an introduction that opens a door. Purple, the platform’s system for recognising participation, is part of that experience. Members can earn Purple through contributions and activity within the community.
The ambition is to give creative people a place where sharing work can lead to a continuing relationship. For Taveras, building New Renaissance is another way of bringing people into the conversation around art.
