Biography

Joe Taveras

Joe Taveras is a mixed-media artist and founder. He began painting in March 2020 in Los Angeles after working in robotics.

Taveras’s practice explores consciousness, interconnectedness, and the relationship between matter and movement. Informed by his background in robotics, he works intuitively with acrylic, oil sticks, ink, and watercolor, building paintings through layered color and spontaneous gestures. His approach brings questions from science and philosophy into the act of painting.

His work is held in collections internationally, including the Vatican Collection. His painting God as Earth (2023) was gifted to Pope Francis, whose receipt of the work was acknowledged by the Vatican.

He is the Founder and CEO of New Renaissance and a cofounder of Interesting Concepts with Jess Mouawad.
