The Recalibration Series

The Recalibration Series developed near the first anniversary of Joe Taveras’s painting practice. A period of focused isolation became an opportunity to explore a more energetic visual language.

Process

Taveras built textured backgrounds with layers of white paint, then introduced vivid color and spontaneous forms. The series brought together interests in graffiti, cubism, impressionism, and surrealism.

Works in the series included Pegasus, Circuitry, Electra, Analytique, Deep Ocean, and Full Bloom.
