In late October 2020, Taveras devoted a week to a longstanding ambition: making large paintings. The original series records an early expansion in scale during his first year as a painter.
Studio photographs place the canvases beside the artist and within the working space. Preparatory drawings appear alongside the larger compositions, offering a view of how a line can change when it moves from paper to a much larger surface.
The body and the canvas
The photographs are part of the experience of this series. They show works on the floor, paintings rising above the artist, and a studio becoming an environment shaped by the scale of the work.
