Watercolour began when Taveras was introduced to watercolor paints and oil sticks in August 2020. Over a short period in Boston, those materials opened a different way of making images.
The original presentation mixes works on paper, portraits, painted figures, and photographs of the artist at work. New Beginnings, Bird, Shake the Room, Sight, and The Body III are among the named works.
Material experiments
Some images preserve the works on their own; others show the artist holding a painting or drawing in the setting where it was made. Together they record a period of testing materials, gestures, and ways of seeing.
